About Us
12 May 2020 Update
Tēnā koutou
We hope you are coping well with the challenges posed by working under New Zealand’s Covid-19 alert level guidelines.
We understand that training may not be your highest priority right now but when you are ready, we are keen to support you or your team’s learning, and are looking forward to when we are able to visit your farms, orchards, packhouses, processing facilities, gardens and more.
We are committed to following best-practice advice on how to operate under Alert Level 2. We are planning to be available to visit workplaces again from Monday 18 May, following the best-practice guidelines on health and safety, physical distancing and contact tracing. We will also be following the advice to work remotely where possible.
We can also support you or your team with some new ways to learn with Primary ITO. Working with your Training Advisor we can:
- enrol you or your team into new programmes
- assess and recognise learning
- provide training resources.
Below are answers to some of the most likely questions you may have about your Primary ITO training. If you need to speak with us, please call your Training Advisor directly or contact 0800 20 80 20 to be transferred.
Kia ora anō tātou – best wishes and stay well.

Some common questions and answers
What do I need to continue my Primary ITO training?
At this stage, you should have access to the training resources you need for the next few weeks. If you don’t have these, please let your Primary ITO training advisor know and they will be able to look into it for you.
If you need to know how to return your training materials, please contact your Primary ITO training advisor.
Are class days resuming?
During the Covid-19 lockdown at levels 3 and 4, all class days had to be suspended. We are looking forward to working with our training providers on how these can resume, while following any new requirements under Level 2.
Online training
The Covid-19 restrictions are also an opportunity for us to look at how we provide training. We have some options for more online approaches, which could include Skype, Zoom, Google Classroom, or others.
Your training advisor can provide more information.
How will I be assessed?
We want to be able to assess and recognise your learning even when there are challenges in visiting you in the workplace or receiving your course work in the mail.
For many people, this isn’t an issue as their assessor is someone working in the same company as them. For others, your Primary ITO training advisor does your assessment. When you have learning ready for assessment, please contact your training advisor and they will be able to let you know how to send your materials to them. As an example, this could be through photographs of the materials taken on your smartphones.
The important thing is we want to make sure you can complete your learning, and we will work with you to make that happen.
