Fruit Production - Level 2
You’ll acquire the knowledge and skills to plant, grow and prune a range of fruit crops right through to hand harvesting. You’ll learn how to do all of this safely, identifying hazards and understanding safe food practices.

Fruit Production - Level 3
You’ll explore more of the detail and science around steering a crop through to a healthy harvest. You’ll be hands on, learning how to safely use production machinery, spot diseases and pests and learn how to give and get the best through great teamwork.
You can complete this course as the first year of a NZ Apprenticeship.

Fruit Production - Level 4
This is where you gain the skills and understanding to step up into supervising. You’ll be able to lead and manage a team, ensuring quality and productivity at every step. You’ll learn how to manage, inspire and guide those around you, ensuring the highest standards are achieved along the entire fruit production process to achieve crop production targets.
You can complete this course as the second and third year of a NZ Apprenticeship.

Train the Trainer (Short Course)
This one-day interactive workshop will give you the skills needed to grow an effective, safe team that you can rely on. You’ll learn how to motivate, train and assess employees to ensure they perform to a consistently high standard.

You must be in a role where you supervise or manage staff.

Growsafe/Approved Handler
This one-day workshop is a critical step in the safe and effective use of agrichemicals. You'll learn to manage risks at all levels, understanding legal requirements and responsibilities. You'll also learn about all aspects of handling agrichemicals and emergency management.

This course takes one day to complete and you can start anytime.
Prerequisites
You need to be handling and using agrichemicals in your role.
Qualification
On completion you’ll receive Growsafe Certification and Approved Handler Certification.
Both certifications are valid for 5 years from date of issue. You’ll have 12 months after the expiry date to complete a refresher course. If this is not completed then you’ll need to complete the full course again.

Effective Leadership

Comprehensive First Aid
This course covers all of the essentials and more. It is the minimum requirement for high risk workplaces, and it meets the Department of Labour First Aid for Workplaces standard.

Duration and start dates
The time commitment for this course is 12 hours over two days. You can choose to do the whole course in a face to face environment or mix it up with online learning. Opting for the mixed delivery gives you the choice and flexibility to complete your training when and where you choose. Register online via the Red Cross website.

New Zealand Red Cross First Aid Certificate.

First Aid Revalidation
This 1-day course is a revalidation of your first aid skills, keeping your knowledge up to date and relevant.

Prerequisites
This revalidation course is for those who have previously completed Comprehensive First Aid training, and whose two year certificate is due for renewal or has expired for no more than 3 months.

A renewed New Zealand Red Cross First Aid Certificate.

Diploma in Agribusiness Management
With this programme you'll acquire all the skills you'll need to run a successful agribusiness. You'll learn to develop a complete financial plan for a specific agribusiness or section of it. You'll learn to manage tax, employment and capital requirements and understand effective ways to hire and manage staff. You'll be able to develop plans for health and safety, environmental management as well as a full business plan and agribusiness report.

The full Agribusiness Diploma takes 2.5 years to complete. You'll complete one module per semester + a property report. There are two semester intakes per year and start dates vary depending on the provider in your area.

Fruit Production Apprenticeship - Level 3 & 4
Ideal if you are currently working in the industry with some general work experience and have a desire to develop a career in Fruit Production. You will learn skills to allow you to work in a self-managed capacity with some responsibility for other staff and have an overview of key aspects of fruit production operations.
