Primary Industry Skills – Seafood (Level 2)

This qualification is an entry pathway for learners who are seeking employment, or are newly employed, in the seafood industry. Graduates of this qualification will be able to carry out practical tasks associated with an entry level role in a primary industry context and use safe work practices in a seafood industry context.

Commercial Fishing – Level 3
Programmes leading to the below new qualification are in development and will be available soon.
This qualification is for people who wish to upskill and gain knowledge in the handling, processing and packing for quality seafood at sea in the commercial fishing industry and to provide formal recognition for the skills of those already working within the industry.
New Zealand Certificate in Commercial Fishing (Level 3) with strands in:
o Wet Fish
o Frozen Fish (land or sea-based)

Commercial Fishing – Level 4
Primary ITO is currently working with industry to develop programmes leading to the below qualification.
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the commercial fishing sector with people who are able to work as experienced commercial fishing operators involved in commercial fishing operations including fish handling in an in-shore or deep-water environment. Graduates will be capable of working in a self-managed capacity and will have some responsibility for the performance of others.
