Training for brand new staff

15 November 2021

There’s a lot to think about when employing staff, especially if they’re completely new to the industry. That’s where the New Zealand Certificate in Primary Industry Skills (Level 2) is valuable as we will design a programme to complement your business.

What’s it all about?

The Level 2 Certificate programme naturally goes hand in hand with staff inductions, giving them the basics to get them confident in what they’re doing and to keep them safe.

Critically, it’s the first step to get them used to on-job training and can lead on to higher level training and apprenticeships.

How does it work?

A Primary ITO Training Adviser works with you and your team to make sure the training programme covers what’s needed, such as the appropriate vehicles and machinery for the industry and business, and you will receive the tools and resources to coach and train in the workplace. The Training Adviser will also ensure the right learning support is available, helping with access to digital tools, mentors and dyslexia support. That support can be crucial to progress through a qualification and to lead into a successful career.

Who should enrol?

The Certificate in Primary Skills is suited to people who are new to the industry or have not done any qualifications before. Your new team member can gain the industry-standard skills by completing a specifically tailored programme, whether your business is horticulture production, dairy farming, sheep and beef, pork, poultry, landscaping, arboriculture or amenity parks and garden.

Did you say ‘free’!?!

If people are enrolled by April 2022, fees are also covered* by the Government’s free trades training. Click here for FAQs.
