Tū Te Ngana Hau research report goes live

Primary ITO would like to share a remote Māori community led education and training research report reinforcing the power of whānau ora in action. The report completed in February 2022 reflects a two-year journey.

Primary ITO would like to share a remote Māori community led education and training research report reinforcing the power of whānau ora in action. The report completed in February 2022 reflects a two-year journey working with the Whanganui awa people of Te Ati Haunui-ā-Pāpārangi funded by Ako Aotearoa and supported in-kind by Primary ITO.

Called Tū Te Ngana Hau - The Breath of Endeavour, the programme continues to be led by the Community Led Development Trust on the awa with a new name called ‘Awa Workshops Academy’.

About this pilot

The vision of this project was to grow the capacity and capability of local people to drive this kaupapa for themselves and create meaningful education pathways to find or create employment opportunities. Kaupapa Māori principles underpinned the project and was guided by Māori values of whanaungatanga (relationship integrity), manaakitanga (empowerment of communities) and mana motuhake (respecting the context of each village).
