Teachers & Careers Advisers
Teachers & Careers Advisers
We're committed to supporting teachers and careers advisers with information, tools and resources about careers in the primary industry.
We want to introduce schools and students to Primary ITO, and our range of high-quality, relevant training and qualifications.
Currently, we offer two programmes that allow your students to work towards gaining a qualification that will set them up for success, before they even enter the workforce.
Gateway
This is for senior students (Year 11, 12 and 13), in which students undertake work experience one day per week to give meaningful and genuine on job placement learning and employment experiences. Primary ITO partners with secondary schools so the students’ work opportunities are supported by the school with formal knowledge, and skills training and assessment. The student is fully funded through Gateway Funding and their school.
Go to our Resources Store online or to create a new account please email gateway@primaryito.ac.nz. Once you're set up you'll be able to select the Gateway programme we offer to make up packages of learning for your students.
Trades Academy
This programme works alongside NCEA. Years11 to 13 students can combine their NCEA studies with the New Zealand Certificate in Primary Industry Skills Level 2. Blending classroom study with on-job learning, the Trades Academy includes one day per week industry placement. As the Academy is Government funded there are limited spaces available.
We have partnered with the [inzone] bus to showcase the remarkable opportunities in the primary sector. Visit primarysectorcareers.ac.nz to find out more.
