Trades Academy Legends of Hawkes Bay

A broad range of learning opportunities are available and students can gain a NCEA Level 2 and 3 qualification and a programme which leads to the NZ Certificate in Primary Industry Skills Level 2.

Recently we got together in the Hawkes Bay, it was clear to see the result of 3 years building relationships with a number of schools, farmers and students through the Primary ITO Trades Academy and another 10 students couldn’t attend the BBQ due to work commitments.

All 19 young people are working full time in the primary industries including shepherding, tractor drivers, meat processing and farming cadetships throughout Hawkes Bay. The majority are also working or will be working with Primary ITO Training Advisers. Gary Brady, Trades Academy Tutor has contact with these Legends weekly via a messenger group where the students trade information about dogs, utes, a muster, stuck tractor, or their latest injury! They also pick each other up which is sometimes required after a tough week. Gary is extremely proud of all of the Hawkes Bay group, and what they have achieved.
