This micro-credential is suited for Farm Assistants, who want to develop their skills and knowledge in dairy farming.
Topics covered include:
Livestock feed demand during the season and impacts on production
Identification of New Zealand pasture species
Grazing managements methods
Principles of feed budgeting and nutritional value of feed and digestibility
Introduction to pasture management and soil management, including soil health and fertility
Fundamental of water supply systems.
This micro-credential takes 5 months to complete.
Learners are required to attend 6 workshop days.
Graduates will be able to:
calculate feed demand
assist with feeding and supplying water to livestock
describe pasture and soil management practices.
