Prerequisites
Learners must be employed in the sector, have completed a Level 3 Amenity qualification or have three years’ experience in an amenity role.

Summary
This new programme is for learners who would like to extend their technical knowledge, take on more responsibility and have the potential to move into a role supervising staff.
Learning outcomes
Graduates will be able to:

Supervise and provide instruction to team members using a range of effective communication and interpersonal skills relevant to a horticulture sector.

Implement and monitor an operational/seasonal plan for the care of parks, gardens or open spaces including agrichemicals, revegetation and inspecting infrastructure. New topics include:

Describe, establish and maintain plant collections.

Set up, maintain and dismantle a plant display.

Routine maintenance scheduling for vehicles, plant, machinery and equipment.

Apply knowledge to achieve functional and aesthetic effects of plants, gardens, and open spaces including plant classification, anatomy, morphology, soil management, turf management, environmental effects and more. New topics include:

Amenity tree health problems.

Describe, assess, prune, and train amenity trees and shrubs
