Summary
Learners will gain the skills and understanding to step up into supervising, be able to lead and manage a team, ensuring quality and productivity at every step. They will learn how to manage, inspire and guide those around them, ensuring the highest standards along the entire outdoor vegetable and seed production process.
Learners can complete this programme as the second and third year of a New Zealand Apprenticeship.
Learning outcomes
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

supervise and provide instruction to team members using a range of effective communication and interpersonal skills

implement and monitor outdoor vegetable crop production activities to achieve production goals and standards including:

recording and reporting

managing agrichemicals

demonstrating an understanding of environmental risk management and minimising negative environmental effects

a crop harvest plan

a crop protection plan

plant management techniques to optimise production

assisting with the development of standard operating procedures.
A new topic that has been developed for the programme includes how to conserve water and apply this knowledge in the workplace.
