Bringing more young people into farming and giving them the opportunity to learn on the job is the key to a good future for the sheep and beef industry, says Tasman District farmer Peter Moore.

Investing in educating and its farming teams is all part of looking after the whenua and their people for future generations for Tiroa E and Te Hape B Trusts, which run four neighbouring sheep and beef properties just north of Pureora Forest Park.
The reigning winner of the Ahuwhenua Young Māori Award for sheep and beef is encouraging other rangatahi to give it a go, and hopefully win this year’s award, which in 2023 is in horticulture.

From agriculture to horticulture, vineyards to fish farms, and everything in between, strong team leadership skills are essential to building a successful and high performing team.
