From great to even better – record learner satisfaction rate for Primary ITO

11 March 2025

Ninety-four percent of Primary ITO learners are satisfied with their experience of training with us, according to results from the most recent learner experience survey in late 2024.

This ‘record score’ tops the previous Primary ITO learner satisfaction result of 93 percent from a survey carried out in the first half of last year.

Seven hundred active Primary ITO learners took part in the latest survey in September, with results released late last year. The survey asked learners to rate their experience of training with Primary ITO, and whether they would recommend the training to a colleague or friend. It also featured a series of questions about wellbeing, including whether learners feel connected, supported, and know where to access information to help their physical and mental wellbeing.

Primary ITO recorded an increase across all three key measures – learner satisfaction, learner wellbeing, and whether a learner would recommend Primary ITO training to others.

Survey highlights – Primary ITO learners:

  • 94.9 percent of learners are satisfied with their experience at Primary ITO (94 percent for Māori learners and 100 percent for Pasifika learners).
  • 94 percent of Primary ITO learners feel connected, supported, and know how to access information and services to support their wellbeing (94 percent for Māori and 97 percent for Pasifika learners).
  • 94 percent of learners feel it is easy for them to gain the skills and knowledge they need to achieve their training goals.

Primary ITO executive director Andrea Leslie says the results for learner satisfaction and wellbeing are fantastic.

“Our Primary ITO team is dedicated to looking after our learners and employers.  These outstanding results reflect the quality of the relationships and the level of support provided by our Training Advisers and other staff every day.

“Primary ITO works with everyone, from New Zealand’s biggest exporters to small ‘mum and dad’ businesses taking on their first staff member. Our people come to you, when it suits you, from the deep south to the far north and everywhere in between.

“We pride ourselves on helping to grow the skills of people in the primary industries, including farmers, growers, meat and dairy processors and many others working to produce the food we eat, and provide rural and other services across New Zealand.”
